When changing your dog's diet, it is important to do it gradually over a period of up to seven days. This is necessary so that your dog’s digestive system can become accustomed to the new food. Whether you’re changing from canned food or from another dry food, start by mixing a small amount of the OrganiPets organic food with the previous food. Over the next few days, steadily increase the amount of the OrganiPets organic food while reducing the amount of the previous food, until you are feeding your dog entirely on the OrganiPets organic food. Changing gradually in this way should avoid any digestive upset and your dog should take readily to the new food.

How do I change my cat onto OrganiPets complete organic cat food?

Does OrganiPets organic complete food contain any unhealthy artificial additives?

No, it does not. As well as being a hypo-allergenic food, OrganiPets is organic, natural and wholesome. Unlike some other brands of pet food, we do not add any artificial flavours, preservatives or colours.

Does it matter if I moisten the food?

You can serve OrganiPets organic food either with or without added water in the bowl, according to your pet's preference.

For the best dental and oral hygiene, we recommend that OrganiPets organic food should be fed dry or lightly moistened, to allow the crunchy biscuits to clean your pet’s teeth.

For added palatability, it is sometimes a good idea to add a small quantity of warm water to the dry food. This brings out the smell of the gravy, which many pets adore!

If your pet has tender teeth or gums, you can soak the food until it is soft before feeding.

Some dry dog foods recommend they are soaked before feeding as those foods can swell up when mixed with water in the dog's stomach. OrganiPets organic food does not swell up significantly when wetted, so this is not a problem with our food.

Always supply plenty of clean fresh drinking water at all times.

How much should I be feeding my pet?

The correct amount of food to serve will be determined by your pets age, weight and activity level. Feeding guidelines for the different food varieties are included on each pack.

Does OrganiPets organic food or treats contain undesirable 'animal derivatives' e.g. beaks and feathers?

No, it does not. Unlike many other dog foods, we do not conceal our ingredients by listing them in mysterious categories like "meat and animal derivatives" or "derivatives of vegetable origin".

My pet is fussy, what do I do?

The main reason why a pet refuses food is that it is not hungry.

Some pets will eat anything and are quite happy to devour what's put in front of them, but some will show a reluctance to eat or simply turn up their noses and refuse certain foods. This can sometimes be a sign of intolerance to certain ingredients or they may find the food difficult to digest. Dogs and cats can also develop aversions to particular foods as they get older. All OrganiPets organic products are hypo-allergenic so they could be the answer to your pets needs.

My pet is permanently hungry

The desire for food is often a conditioned one i.e. the pet has learned from past experience that if the owner is eating then the pet will be given food.

Sometimes there is no solution to this problem of feeling guilty that the pet is being deprived, however you must keep in mind that it is in the best interests of your pet not to over feed it, otherwise you could cause health problems.

The best way of dealing with this is by providing diversion and stimulation in the form of a walk or play. The more you give food on demand, the more your pet will expect it.

Why does my dog eat grass?

When a dog wishes to vomit it will instinctively eat grass to help it discharge toxins from its system.

My pet is sometimes sick and has diarrhea but isn’t ill, is it his diet?

Vomiting or diarrhea is a way of discharging build ups of waste in the dog’s system thus helping to cleanse the system. There may well be a sub-clinical disease present.
This behaviour is typically associated with feeding low-quality pet food; changing to a better feeding regime will usually solve the problem.
